Budget targets

Budget targets help planners track defined budget limits and monitor how closely their actual spending aligns with those limits.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Budget targets feature provides a clear indication of whether you’re over or under budget - both at the overall event level and, optionally, by budget category.

To set a budget target Navigate to the event-level Budget view and Click the Budget setup button. A pop-up will appear with a field labeled Target Budget, initially empty.

Enter your desired total budget amount. Once filled, this number becomes the reference point for tracking budget performance.

You can also choose to include the planner’s fee in this target by toggling Include fees option.

Viewing Budget Variance

Once a target is set, the Event summary tray will display a new attribute called Budget variance. This shows the difference between the actual spending and your set target:

A red plus value indicates you’re over budge

A green minus value indicates you’re under budget

This real-time feedback helps planners make informed financial decisions throughout the planning process.

Setup Per Category

If you want more granular control, you can choose to set budget targets per category. This toggling this option will automatically disable global Target budget.

In the Budget setup pop-up, check the option Setup per category. You can then define individual budget thresholds for each category.

When this option is enabled, variance values will appear next to each category name in the budget view:

  • A green minus value means the category is under budget

  • A red plus value means the category is over budget

This detailed view helps identify which parts of the budget are driving overspend or underspend, allowing for precise adjustments
