Timeline Sequences focus on interconnected line items that, if altered, will have the greatest impact on your Event timing.
By implementing a Sequence, you are linking line items together into a group. Once linked, you can adjust either the Start Time of the whole Sequence or the Duration of an individual line item, and the remaining line items in the Sequence group will adjust automatically based on their durations.
This feature helps you eliminate any gaps or overlaps instantly, ensuring your schedules remains accurate and on time.
How Sequences work
The Sequence attribute can be applied to a Timeline line item. When you select the desired Sequence, that line item will automatically link to that Sequence group.
To create a Sequence, click the button in the Sequence colum and start typing a Sequence name. You can either use an existing Sequence group or click Create new sequence
to generate a new Sequence group.
Note: All Sequences must have a unique name across all Event Timelines in the Project.
Selecting the Create new sequence
option will immediately open an edit form with the specific line item included. To successfully save the Sequence, you must name it first.
Now that the Sequence group is created, you can add to it other Timeline line items.
Note: To add items to a Sequence, the line items must have consecutive timing. This means the end time of one item must align exactly with the start time of the next, ensuring a seamless flow without gaps.
How to edit sequences
To edit a Sequence and its line items, click on the Sequence attribute, then select the three dots menu, where you will find the Edit Sequence
option. This will get you to the editor window.
Adding items into a Sequence
You can add line items on the Timeline page by clicking the appropriate sequence, or you can add them directly in the Sequence editor window.
You can add new line items at the beginning, end, or in between the existing line items in the Sequence editor window. These items will automatically be marked with the Sequence attribute on the Timeline view.
Note: Remember to assign the appropriate Vendors and Tags to your new line items.
Shifting sequenced items
There are several ways to shift sequenced line items.
Adjusting the start time of the first item: This will shift all following line items accordingly.
Duration adjustments: Changing the duration of any item will shift the start and end time of all following sequenced line items, but none of the items before it.
Drag and drop: You can easily drag and drop line items within the sequence, and the start and end times will adjust automatically depending on where you drop it.
Note: You cannot adjust the start or end time of any other line items in the sequence, only the original start time and the durations of each line item.
